Nevada Humane Society: Bringing Animals and People Together Since 1932
Services

Adoption | Owner-surrendered pets are accepted for adoption into new homes. Our adoption policies are strict, but are designed to ensure permanent and successful placement.

Clinic | We offer low cost spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations.

Mobile Spay/Neuter/Adoption Van | This vehicle allows the Society to extend its work beyond the shelter walls.

Boarding | We no longer offer boarding services: However, the new owners of our former facility at 200 Kresge Lane will be opening very soon to offer a continuity of boarding care for your pets. We appreciate their patience and consideration for us during this transition and wish them the best of luck in their new business venture!

Financial Assistance | We offer several aid programs for pet owners: spay/neuter assistance for cats and dogs and emergency veterianary assistance is available through Shakespeare Animal Fund at 775-342-7040.

Our cat voucher program is funded by the Robert Z. Hawkins Foundation. However, our animal assistance loan program has no supporting benefactor, and is supplied from our operating expenses. Recipients are not always financially able to pay back their emergency loans, and the fund often becomes depleted. Donations to this effort are needed and welcomed.

Legislative Lobbying | We actively participate in the process of government to improve and strengthen animal protection laws.

Wildlife Rehabilitation | We have a licensed “rehabilitator” on staff who works to return as many of our friends to the wild as possible.

Animal Rescue Team (ART) | Formed to address the needs of animals during disasters, the team is an official auxiliary under the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Search & Rescue Division.
