Nevada Humane Society: Bringing Animals and People Together Since 1932

Animal Rescue and Care
We provide care to over 8,000 animals each year. Some animals are sick, injured, or traumatized when they arrive at the shelter. Whatever the problem, they receive needed care through our clinic and trained staff. It costs an average of $240 to care for each animal, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchipping, and daily care until they can be placed into a new adoptive home. If you would like to help us continue our mission, please click on the donate button in the left sidebar.

Pet Adoptions
Our shelter is open seven days a week for adoptions. Our adoption counselors will help you find the pet who will be the perfect match for you and your lifestyle. Through our Seniors-for-Seniors Pet Adoption program, people aged 55 and up can adopt a pet who is 6 years or older and the adopt fee is waived. You can also see pets for adoption at www.petfinder.com.

Animal Help Desk
Our Animal Help Desk provides free assistance and information to anyone who has a question or problem with their pet or other animals in the community. The Animal Help Desk is available by phone at 775-856-2000, ext. 200 or by email at animalhelp@nevadahumanesociety.org.

Volunteer Opportunities
We offer a wide variety of rewarding volunteer opportunities ranging from hands-on care for the animals to office work to special events to fostering animals in your own home. There are many different ways you can help. Check our homepage for the next scheduled volunteer orientation meeting.

Low-cost Spay/Neuter Services
Neutering is key to controlling the pet population, and it also improves pet’s health and behavior. We provide low-cost spay/neuter assistance to people who have financial challenges and to caregivers of feral cats.
