
School Presentations
The Society offers free “in school” programs to all grade levels. The age appropriate presentations include:
- Pre-school, Kindergarten, 1st Grade | Introduces children to the needs and feelings of animals with the help of a felt storyboard and one of the Society's canine mascots.
- 2nd through 6th Grade | Stresses pet owner responsibility, pet overpopulation problem, respect for all living creatures and the Humane Society's role in the community.
- Middle & High School | Focuses on the pet overpopulation problem, pet owner responsibility, respect for the environment, the link between animal abuse and human cruelty and the Humane Society's programs and services.
- All Ages | Our popular dog bite prevention program is a 30 minute presentation where children will learn: Why dogs bite, how dogs communicate, safety rules to avoid a bite and defensive techniques to minimize a bite and/or attack.
Shelter Tours
Free tours are offered at our shelter to all age levels and
groups which include: Girl/Boy Scouts, church groups, after-school
programs, recreational groups, home schoolers, adult groups, etc.
The shelter tour includes:
- Presentations focusing on pet care, responsiblity and the functions of the Humane Society.
- A tour of the shelter and its many adoption animals that can include dogs, cats, mice, hamsters, rats, ferrets, birds, pot-bellied pigs, chickens and wildlife.
- A visit with the shelter's very lovable and fun education mascots.
